2019 Olive Harvest - Montanare, Italy

The olive harvest each fall is incredibly satisfying and difficult work.  Each day begins with a trip to the local bar for coffee and pastry, and then, to work!  We pick until early afternoon, taking care to strip each tree of all of it's fruit and carefully place the fruit into baskets.  After a lunch break, it is back up the hill to pick until dusk.  The meals - delicious in Italy regardless - are somehow even better after a hard day's work!  Once the harvest is complete, a visit to the olive oil mill to see the olives turned into brilliant green, fresh, and delicious oil is a treat.
